Star Wars Sales Incentive
Alpha served as the catalyst in the development of promotional concepts surrounding the inevitable blockbuster Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith on behalf of Sony Ericsson.
Alpha supported Sony Ericsson in finding creative ways to leverage this iconic property to help spur sell-through of what would soon be coined “The Star Wars Phone”. It was this ideation that aided Sony Ericsson in acquiring the rights as the official partner of Cingular Wireless in the movie promotion.
Above and beyond the ideation of the promotional concept and mechanic, Alpha managed the execution, and customer service associated with this campaign that included an in-box phone offer of two free movie tickets to this spectacular, which could be redeemed immediately online; the first offer of its kind for a handset manufacturer. Moreover, the firm was responsible for the creative development of the five limited edition Star Wars collectors’ edition (phone) faceplates, and the customer service issues associated with consumer redemption. These faceplates were also an official licensed good of Lucas Films for consumer purchase, and used in VIP kits, as part of the SEMC product-seeding program.
